Alain Girel was a renowned ceramist: from 1962 until his death, he had numerous solo exhibitions,
His creations were acquired by Hermès, among others.
His ceramics were also commissioned by the Elysée Palace (Mitterrand, Chirac) as gifts for foreign heads of state.
The jar rests on a cast-iron base in the shape of a vine stock.

Numerous decorations and colored friezes adorn the upper part.
