Albert Lebourg (Montfort-sur-Risle 1849 - 1928 Rouen)
Verso with stamp of Maison Rey et Perrot.
At the time this impressive painting was created, Lebourg had already been living in Paris for ten years, after having returned from Algiers where he worked as a drawing teacher. The vibration of the air, which is particularly evident in the sky, reflects the quality of the Impressionists in whose time he worked and whose spirit he embodied in his paintings. It is not surprising that he made his debut in 1879 at the fourth Impressionist exhibition presenting 30 works alongside Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, Pierre- Auguste Renoir and others. He was also represented at the fifth Impressionist exhibition with 20 works.
