Jakob Adam von Berstett, here as a half figure in his shining armour, was the son of Maria Charitas von Rathsamhausen zu Ehnweyer (Strasburg 1639 - 1706 ibid.) and Johann Jakob von Berstett (March 28th, 1619 zu Berstett - April 26th, 1689 ibid.), whereby his brother Philipp Jacques de Berstett continued the family. Together they registered their family coat of arms with the Armorial général in 1696. In 1742, he took care of the reconstruction of Berstett Castle, destroyed by Croatian troops in 1638, which after its destruction in 1789 exists today only in a rudimentary form.
