This elegant armchair was made in the Baroque period in Turin, around the middle of the eighteenth century. The structure of the armchair is in finely carved wood, lacquered in ivory and gilded.
The armchair is characterized by a wide and very comfortable seat. It has a slightly wavy backrest composed of a golden and carved perimeter band with rocaille decorations that refer to phytomorphic motifs. The internal reserve is lacquered in ivory tones. The armrests, lined in the upper part, are joined to the seat with lacquered and gilded wooden portions, moved and decorated with volutes and foliage elements.
The band under the seat has a mixed and wavy profile, bordered by gold reserve and lacquered ivory. At the center it has the characteristic rocaille pattern composed of volutes and phytomorphic motifs. The four legs descend harmoniously with a wavy and curvilinear pattern, decorated with golden rocaille carvings and ending with a golden curly foot.
The back, armrests and seat have been lined with modern fabric in excellent condition.
The armchair is finished on all four sides, allowing it to be placed even in the middle of rooms. Its size and the large seat make it comfortable and therefore suitable for use in living rooms and studios, between sofas or in front of a fireplace. Very decorative and refined, it can be combined with both antique and modern furniture.
