An exceptional ceremonial cabinet, this piece of furniture is dressed in large walnut friezes contoured with alternating strips of light wood, maple, and dark wood, cormier, enclosing reserves inlaid with falling flowers and foliage on the corner pilasters and the upper headband. In the center of the cornice, a cartouche inlaid with a two-headed eagle, an emblem commonly used in heraldry by the noble families of the Habsburg Empire of Austria from the end of the 16th century. The doors are divided into 3 panels, the middle of which has a quadrilobed reserve with a flower inserted in each quarter, the one at the start of the lower lobe develops in the center into a large open button. On either side of this central axis, 4 symmetrical panels delimit, by a large net with a scalloped outline, a space like a simulated flower bed, dressed with a large floral composition with multiple stems. The keyholes are made of brass, decorated with embossed leaves, and opening the doors reveals a magnificent lock and period hinges in iron engraved with scrolls and foliage, the key, also old, is surmounted by a heart on the top of the ring, perhaps it is a wedding armoire.

The design of this cabinet is typical of the techniques used in the Rhineland, Switzerland and the Holy Roman Empire: the architecture is with cut sides simulating corner pilasters, the frame is made of softwood covered with a thick veneer, here walnut , the piece of furniture is made up of three pieces in addition to the doors, the two volumes of the central body are assembled together by large wooden wedges, the whole is topped with a removable cornice, the doors are fixed on the frame by With important engraved iron hinges, an old technique used since the Renaissance in these countries, the piece of furniture is placed on the ground by flat feet. 18th century period restorations for use and maintenance - overall dimensions at the cornice L190 x D68 x H221 cm
