The Rococo vocabulary of floret, ragged cabbage leaf and acanthus leaf motifs is very much in evidence on this console. The light lines allow us to place this pair of perfectly symmetrical consoles in the 1750s, when rocaille was becoming lighter while retaining its movement. A similar console can be found in lot no. 367 - sale May 05, 2011 - Christie's, and another in lot no. 19 - sale March 22, 2017 - Christie's.
