Art Deco - Art Nouveau - Ceramics and Slip
Couple of two subjects larger than life, rooster and hen in barbotine, polychrome glazed ceramic signed Paul Comoléra and made by the factory of Choisy-le-Roy - Hippolyte Boulenger in 1890.
Remarkable attitude of the rooster, dramatized and proud, tail in plume and bulging chest, the hen in a more maternal attitude is preparing to feed her chick, attesting to the worm she holds in her beak and the attitude of the little chick demanding its meal.
The whole, making a flowerpot, is remarkable by the treatment of the colors, the realism of the attitudes, the perfection of execution of the parts. Note that the hens are of great rarity, relatively to the number of roosters made at that time.
Both pieces are signed "P.COMOLERA", each on their bases and marked with the seal of the faience factory.
