Important Venetian canvas excellently executed by an artist close to the great Venetian master from whom he assimilates the innovative lesson which is based on the very personal use of color, with the combination of warm and cold colors between the different chromatic zones thus accentuating the effects of the light.
This large painting depicting the Virgin and Child with the Infant Saint John is a splendid example of it and the excellent state of conservation allows it to be read perfectly and enjoyed completely.
The gradients are rendered with truly surprising effectiveness and the three-dimensional effect of the three protagonists is extraordinary.
The vertical composition of the two Children who see the little Jesus looking down to bless a San Giovannino who in turn raises his face with his hands joined in prayer is very successful.
The faces of the children cross vertically and their naked bodies are painted with an exceptional volumetric effect.
The author, although working in a later period, is evidently influenced by similar works by Titian both in the choice of composition and pictorial, and above all chromatic.
The bright red and bold blue of the robes that cover the Virgin contrast with the dark and cold green of the curtains, often used by Vecellio in the paintings depicting this subject.
Finally, the flesh tones of the characters stand out from the dark background with a typically Titian-esque luminosity.
It is a work of considerable level, where the artist's commitment to maintaining the very high quality standard in a large work without the slightest sagging is evident.

The work is complete with a beautiful carved and perforated wooden frame from the 19th century.
