A Louis XIV travel writing case in olive wood veneer with geometric decoration and ebony guilloche moldings on all visible sides, on solid olive wood frames. Rectangular quadrilateral in shape, it is topped with a chamfered trapezoidal cover with a concave border delimited by fine moldings; this one is decorated in the flat part with a geometric decoration of large olive fillets veneered in curling, combining diamond and frame. The four sides of our box receive a horizontal veneer decoration of the same species covered on its base with a guilloche molding of solid ebony, the whole resting on four cylindrical pads also of ebony. Elegant brass ornamentation such as a leafy clerestory keyhole and falling ring with an eyelet on a daisy. It opens, hinged on two studded brass hinges and is locked by a lock that works perfectly with its key. The interior cavity of the cover is equipped with two metal side bridges, where a ribbon used to hold banknotes once slipped. The writing part consists of a mobile tablet closing a storage cavity and a writing kit. The framed shelf is covered in black morocco. The writing kit is made up laterally of an inkwell and an hourglass enclosing a cavity intended for the feathers. Inkwell and hourglass each have a cylindrical cap with an ovoid grip, in silver-plated metal with screw threads; both decorated on the periphery with a guilloché net. Our box is in perfect condition, maintenance restorations such as buffer varnish and metal polishing. Length: 28.6cm depth: 21.6cm Height 12.2cm
