Young boy in cast bronze. He returns from fishing, tired and thoughtful. The subject is treated with surprising realism, a beautiful expressive face, the movement of the body, everything is perfect and announces a great artist. The creation of the fishing rod deserves to be specified, in fact this bronze bamboo rod is so thin that it could not be cast, it was patiently made with a file starting with the furthest end. It is movingly realistic with the knots and twists of the plant's growth, discreetly represented, it is extremely fragile because bronze is a brittle metal. This is, of course, a detail but it is essential. It has miraculously survived the centuries without being broken. This sculpture is different from the usual Japanese bronzes of this period which have no soul.
Height: 48cm
