Cartel and its wall bracket (concave ) made of green horn-clad wood, of eventful shape, rich ornamentation of gilded bronzes and asymmetrical seed cartridges. The Mount is signed by Jean Joseph de Saint Germain , 1719-1791; probably the largest Bronzier of the eighteenth century. Known for the creation of the cases of Cartels and their finely chiseled bronzes.
Round dial enamelled with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, signed LEVÊQUE in Paris.
The sides are of violin shape with edges decorated with bronzes enlivened in rich seed clips on its facade and its reverse, it is carried by four feet in whip of golden bronze.
Its facade opens with a fiddled leaf embellished in its lower part with a rich asymmetrical seed nut, jagged staples flanked by sheaves of flowers. It is surmounted by a beautiful openwork seed clip, winged and punctuated with flowers suggesting an amazing movement.
Old movement in working order, to be revised.
It rests on a console decorated with torn and faced staples forming cartridges and walnuts.
