Popular Art Polychrome Wardrobe Dated 1827

Probably made for a wedding, with a cartouche in the pediment linking two names and a date: 1827, this rare cabinet is decorated with original polychromy depicting scenes of villages, houses, gardens, flower garlands, pelmets and lakeside ambiances . Each panel of the doors is decorated with a laurel wreath, the side jambs are decorated with balusters and draperies, hearts incorporating maxims, and a motif simulating a bunch of grapes, they are topped with Corinthian capitals painted in trompe l 'eye. Brass keyholes decorated with embossed motifs. The piece of furniture is in good original condition, the layout includes a large shelf, a vertical separation, shelves (replaced) on the right and a wardrobe on the left, it is easily dismantled, and is made up of two modules assembled from below and the underneath by large bolts, probably replaced. This type of cabinet with original and period decor is extremely rare. It is a work of Swiss origin, it is a piece of furniture with incredible charm which can set the tone and an original note in a warm mountain atmosphere. Marks of time, and small scales on the polychromy confirm the authenticity, small missing part on the lower part of one of the keyholes, old ball feet but later than the construction of the piece of furniture. Period 1st third of the 19th century.
