Rare Westerwald jug with handle, in salt-glazed stoneware decorated:
- on the upper part, on a blue background, an anthropomorphic mask at the base of the spout,
- on the central part, a brown background of large flowers framing a large medallion, surrounded by a frieze imitating a gilded wooden frame. Inside, on a blue background, a frieze of hearts surrounds the medallion with the effigy of King Louis XIV surmounted by an inscription and a date of 1679 corresponding to the Treaty of Nijmegen.

On 5 February 1679, the Treaty of Nijmegen was signed, putting an end to the Dutch War and ratifying the Treaties of Westphalia, which themselves put an end to the Thirty Years' War.
Three peace treaties were signed by France with the United Provinces
(Netherlands), Spain and the Holy Roman Empire.
This treaty marked the apogee of King Louis XIV, and earned him the nickname "Louis the Great".
