Our Embriachi wedding box is a masterpiece of late medieval and early Renaissance craftsmanship, reflecting the refinement of the period. Made at the beginning of the 15th century, this box is the work of an important workshop founded by the Florentine goldsmith.
The body of the box is adorned with intricate inlays, made with tesserae of colored or natural bone and various types of wood (ebony).
Baldassare Embriachi's work depicts love scenes taken from the literature of the period, giving the object a profound symbolic and cultural significance.
Embriachi's art captures the grace and sobriety of marital relations, transforming the wedding chest into a tangible symbol of elegance and intrinsic meaning in the context of Renaissance Venice.
Later wood core (19th century).
These precious objects, imitating ivory, were used to present sumptuous wedding gifts, such as jewelry and silks.
