Rare and precious domed ebony-plated box with rich gilded bronze ornamentation and a diaspre medallion at the top. Italian work from the beginning of the 17th century.
The production of boxes made of precious species enriched with decorations in bronze and semi-precious stones spread in the 17th century from the Opificio delle Pietre Dure in Florence. There are few original specimens from the period; most of the boxes on the art market today are 19th century reproductions.
Our box is in excellent condition, complete with its original key and lock.
