French Furniture and Art Pieces of the 18th century and Empire period
Stained and gilded beech salon furniture, stamped P. Marcion, Empire period
Richly carved with palmettes, rosettes and laurels, only the back differs from the furniture in the Petit Salon de l'Empereur (Salon de l'Abdication) in the Palais de Fontainebleau.
The set comprises a pair of large armchairs and a small bench.
The three seats are stamped on the inside of the rear belt P. Marcion, Pierre-Benoit Marcion (1769-1840)
Pierre-Benoit Marcion was one of Napoleon's principal suppliers
Condition report: Restored and reupholstered in our workshop in September 2023. Silk from Prelle in Lyon (ref P8906 o/6813 yellow)
