Offered by Ouaiss Antiquités
Square box of Bresse-blue enamel with gilt bronze mounts. The five sides are composed of convex plates that are decorated with intricate golden arabesques and flower seeds. Enameled imitation pearls with turquoise and opals embellish the flowers and frame the plates. The box rests on four toupie feet that are covered with leaves. In the authentic tradition of the Bresse region, the "Bressans" enamels always made in Bourg (Bresse) use exclusive techniques that date back to the 19th century. Entirely handmade, they are recognizable by their arabesque decorations and enamel reliefs which imitate pearls.
