Pair of consoles in gilded oak, Paris, Louis XV period

Large and rare pair of consoles to hang in finely carved and gilded oak wood.
Model with rococo decoration of staples of openwork acanthus leaves dotted with flowers.
Great quality of carving and repair.

Very good condition, original leaf gilding.

Parisian work from the Louis XV period around 1740-1750.

Dimensions:

Height: 41 cm, Width: 31 cm, Depth: 21.5 cm

Our opinion :

The pair of consoles that we are presenting features an asymmetrical rococo decoration characteristic of the beginning of the reign of Louis XV.
The finesse of the sculpture and the oak wood refer us to a Parisian workshop active in the first part of the 18th century.
If the majority of these small consoles were produced to present small objects, our model, of larger dimensions, was probably used to support porcelain vases or statuary.
