French 17th & 18th centuries furniture and Arts
We present a pair of panels depicting animated landscapes with figures, Dutch school, second half of the 17th century, circa 1650.
A great attention to detail is evident in these two panels, both in the landscapes with architectural backgrounds and in the figures revealing everyday life in the 17th century. The color palette remains fresh and luminous, so highly prized in 17th-century Dutch painting.
These modestly sized paintings could have been used as decorations in small rooms of private mansions reserved for the upper middle classes of the financial world or for the aristocracy, known as "cabinets de curiosité".
Private collection.
