17th & 18th centuries Furniture and Statuary
Rare Louis XIV Master chest of drawers entirely inlaid in walnut and rosewood.
Slightly domed in front, it opens with four drawers in three rows.
The uprights are straight, rounded and dark with brass grooves.
These same grooves are found on the horizontal crosspieces separating the drawers.
The top is inlaid with geometric braces underlined by frames of several light wood fillets.
Very pretty keyholes in gilded bronze and openwork decorated with cherubs adorn the fronts of the drawers.
The model we are presenting is one of the few large master pieces of furniture.
The proportions are elegant, the execution is of fine cabinetmaking quality and is built, as it should be, identical to a Louis XIV dresser to scale (intermediate floors, dovetail joints, bronzes gilded, brass grooves, etc.).
