Offered by Florian Kolhammer
Small portrait vase, designed by Nikolaus Kannhäuser, manufactured by Amphora Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel, ca. 1900, ivory porcelain, marked
Around 1900, Nikolaus Kannhäuser was one of the most talented vase painters at the ceramic manufacturer Amphora. This filigree beauty is a perfect example of Kannhäuser’s work.
Inspired by the “Mucha style”, the portrait of a woman, with delicate flowers and leaves in her hair, is surrounded by a golden forest. The relief-like applied glaze, gives the vase its striking depth.
Our delicate ceramic vase is a wonderful testimony of the Art Nouveau period.
Marked with the company stamp “RStK Turn-Teplitz”, “AMPHORA” in the ellipse and the model number “665”.
