The ensemble is made up of a central motif representing Christ who rises towards the heavens in a radiance of mother-of-pearl and burgundy holding in his left hand the Latin cross struck with a small red Jerusalem cross. He is framed by winged angels and cherubs. The alternation between the two shades of mother-of-pearl, the magnificent openwork chasing of the frame and the sculpture of the mother-of-pearl in the round contribute to giving this painting an air of glory associated with the mystery of the resurrection. In view of the relics which punctuate it, this painting comes from the Holy Land.
