Offered by Antichità San Felice
Magnificent neoclassical head in pure white Carrara marble, representing the Aphrodite of Cnidia. Italy, early 19th century circa 1830.
Numerous specimens of this head exist, many of which are kept in the Louvre, and of these the closest is known as Kauffman's head, from the Borghese collection.
The beautiful face of the goddess, framed by a hairstyle that separates the hair into two wavy locks held back by a band, exudes both divinity and sensuality.
On a Portoro marble plinth. The head is natural size.
