Rare and charming scholar dropper (suiseki) representing a horse, Hirado, Japan Edo period, 19th century.
The horse in velvety white porcelain is represented lying down, its head straightened and turned on itself. A small hole on its back allows water to flow through its half-open mouth. The eye pupils are painted in black.
This rare model dating from the beginnings of the 19th century is in perfect condition.
A white horse is considered an auspicious animal in Shinto belief and a worthy steed for a lord
