Baroque Angel - Bavaria, End of the 17th century

Winged angel in silver and gilt linden carrying in one hand a ciborium and in the other a book with a Latin inscription relating to the triumph of faith. Represented seated, his body whirling, he must have been integrated into a baroque altarpiece in the company of other angels crowning the architecture. Probably an allegory of Faith. Bavaria late 17th century.
