Offered by Isabelle Chalvignac
An oak chest of drawers with a full marquetry of lozenges in perspective alternating with squares of satinwood and green stained wood covering the front and sides, inlaid with quatrefoils.
It rests on four slightly curved legs enriched with chased and gilded bronzes and sabots.
It opens with two leaves surmounted by a long drawer inlaid with crosses separated by a gilt bronze belt.
The drawer serves as a secretary and opens onto a leather-covered shelf with a writing tablet. The two doors reveal two cardboard boxes under a shelf.
A white veined marble top tops the whole; finely chiselled and gilded bronzes.
The quality of the cabinetwork, careful and refined, the design of the marquetry are characteristic of the work of Pierre Roussel, as well as the similarity of the bronzes: falls and sabots of the legs and apron.
