Offered by Seghers & Pang Fine Arts
This foot is a rare example of the dawn of stained glass art. Monochrome greyish-purple. It almost looks as an X-ray photograph of a foot with the bones of the toes. What makes this fragment even more particular is that a human face of a bearded man has been added around 1600. As glass was an expensive medium, old fragments were sometimes used by artists as a testcase for their designs. The whole composition gives the impression of an X-rayed foot with head tattoo. Really extraordinary. Ideal for your Wunderkammer! Oxidation and wear to the glass consistent with its age. Presented in a lightbox (23,5x25x5x10,5cm). Dimensions (without box): 14x8cm.
