This stamp can be related to Pierre Falconet, as well as to his son Louis, who was awarded the master's degree in 1743, both of whom used the same stamp during their careers. Talented cabinetmakers, we find a Louis XVI period screen bearing their stamp (thus attributable to the son who alone produced furniture in this style) in the Nissim de Camondo Museum. Their production includes a few desk chairs with a median leg which, like ours, are distinguished not so much by original research into ornamentation, but rather by a great quality of lines and curves. However, wicker chairs are still rare in their production.
