Excellent condition
This splendid painting reproduces in an excellent way the Allegory of Poetry, the masterpiece of Carlo Dolci located in the National Gallery of Palazzo Corsini in Rome.
The success of the work, which portrays a beautiful young woman in profile, was such that her workshop re-proposed it in various versions always appreciated by high-ranking clients.
Obviously by an excellent hand, we believe ours is of considerable level, so much so that it is considered among those particularly successful and to be compared to the shop of Dolci and not to one of the many copies made by minor authors.
the exceptional quality of the painting is highlighted by an excellent state of conservation which brings out the vivid and precious colors and the extraordinary application of the shades.
The comparison with his work exhibited at Palazzo Corsini undoubtedly confirms the attribution.
The painting, datable to the second part of the 1600s, has an old nineteenth-century relining done to perfection and is complete with a beautiful antique gilded frame.
The paint layer was cleaned with a protective varnish. (See photo before cleaning
