Offered by Matthew Holder
A pair of gilded and polychromed limewood putti from the circle of Martin Zürn (c.1585 - 1665).
Southern Germany, first quarter of the 17th century.
They measure 81 cm and 78cm high respectively.
The polychrome and gilding is largely original with some retouching, each Putto is missing an arm.
They appear to have flanked a larger piece of decoration, possibly an altarpiece or a coat of arms, each Putto is holding a gardening implement possibly relating to a guild.
