Giovanni Stanchi was an Italian painter of the 17th century. He was mainly a still life painter and worked mainly in Rome throughout the 17th century. Stanchi marked the transition from the naturalism of Caravaggio to the more mature phase of Baroque decorativism. He was most likely trained in the workshop of Agostino Verrocchio, one of the most important in Rome at the time.
