A double sided horn and rock crystal pendant with miniature bone scenes.
This remarkable pendant with micro scenes made of fragments of painted bone depict the vision and life of Saint Francis of Assisi to one side and the Virgin bearing the Christ child, within a sunburst of bone to the other.
Southern German or Austrian, 17th century.
Measures 5.8 x 4.2 x 2.3cm.

Gold, enamel, antler core, glass, silk, shell, pearl, paper, and wood.

Note the similar use of polychromy and the very similarly delineated bridges present in both examples.
