French large patinated bronze statue of 'Milon de Crotone' "Rending the Oak", 19th century after the model of Edmé Dumont (1722-1775), fondeur Paternotte à Lembecq .
Edmé Dumont was first a pupil of his father François Dumont. Then in 1768 he was admitted to the Academy with his reception piece Milon de Crotone. He marries Marie Berthault who gives him a son, the sculptor Jacques-Edme Dumont.
He was domiciled in the Louvre.
