The male bust shown here was originally a full-length saint, as the separation just below the belt attests. Apart from the Book of the Gospels in his left hand, there is no other attribute for a clear identification.
He is dressed in a tunic with a belt, surmounted by a hooded cloak, closed at the front by a button and decorated with a light border.
His head is slightly tilted to one side and his face is thin, highlighted by a beard and framed by hair with thick strands ending in "fangs".
Limestone, second half of the 15th century (ca. 1470-1480).
France (probably Burgundy). Remains of original polychromy. Wear, losses (left arm and right hand missing).
Height (without base): 50cm
Width: 41cm
