Cup in glass paste by Georges Despret (1862-1952). Intended from an early age for the profession of glassmaker by his family environment, Despret combines a scientific approach and a creative sensitivity to his art. An engineer by training, a renowned industrialist, his art was the quest for the secret of the glass paste of Ancient Rome (the murrhins). The consecration was reached in 1900, during the Universal Exhibition in Paris, where his works received praise from critics.
