Louis CABAT 1812-1893
The three oaks
Oil on canvas

43 x 59 cm
Cabat's work is inexhaustible in its simplicity and vigor. He paints with rigor, focusing on the overall impression, he emphasizes the solitary and collected aspect of the site. Like Jules Dupré, he is in love with nature and truth; Cabat emphasizes the meaning of lines while Dupré opposes light and shadow.
He worked with Camille Flers and Decamps. He travels, he visits France and Italy.
He often meditates, he wants to regenerate art by the Christian faith and evokes in his new orientation the meditative aspect that emerges from the contemplation of nature.
