Console in natural oak richly carved. Its belt is decorated in its center with an openwork "rosace" surrounded by leafy volutes. It rests on two feet in confronted volutes, carved with shells, volutes and twists. The legs are connected by an arched strut decorated with a plant motif, which is connected to the belt by an upright also carved.
This is a Parisian work executed in the first quarter of the 18th century. Its elegance lies in the accuracy and balance of its proportions. The sculpture is abundant without being overbearing. This type of console where the influence of the reign of Louis XIV is still visible, is much rarer than the Louis XV consoles which were manufactured in great numbers from 1740.
This console is topped with a very nice brown/green Italian marble veined with white. This console is in a very good state of conservation, it has kept its old marble, and it has been perfectly restored.
