An episode from the Passion of Christ during the trial of Pontius Pilate, the Roman procurator, on Jesus Christ: the man on trial is tied to a column and several soldiers are beating him with whips. In the background, dominating the judgment seat, is Pontius Pilate. The colour character reveals the Veneto tradition in this work.
The small bridge at the far right is very similar to those found in Venetian alleys. The costumes are typical of the quattrocento. Our painting is a tempera on poplar parquet.
