Fossil, Siberia
50000-30000 years old
27x13 cm
the base is 13x10 cm
This fossil is the hind horn, the smaller of the two horns of an ancient species of rhinoceros known as the Woolly Rhinoceros. It inhabited the cold steppes that covered much of Eurasia in the Pleistocene. At its peak, less than 30,000 years ago, it was found from central Spain and southern England to Mongolia and southern Siberia. The bearer of this horn probably lived in the Siberian regions.
