This relief represents a scene from the cycle of the Passion of Christ. Jesus is carrying the cross, followed by two bandits, condemned to death along with him. Facing them is Saint Veronica, and in her hands is a cloth, which she held while he was carrying the cross and his image was miraculously embodied on the fabric.

Our relief was part of the decoration of the choir enclosure, which included illustrations of scenes from the cycle of the Passion of Christ.
