Officer's travel clock "Capucine" early 19th Century

Officer's travel clock "Capucine" of quadrilateral rectangular shape in the form of a polished brass cage, it opens with two side doors uncovering the movement and a door at the back uncovering the escapement. Each of the corners is flanked by small coils called turlupets, in the center two superimposed stamps, topped by a mobile handle in the form of rings to facilitate its movement. The white enamel dial marked with Roman numerals is signed by Robert in Nismes; these hands are eccentrically trilobed. The dial is enclosed in a gilt bronze bezel encircled with chased pearls, grapes of leaves in bundles. The whole rests on four feet in toupie. Our nasturtium is equipped with a movement also in brass. It is equipped with a mechanism for striking the hours, halves and quarters. Its escapement is a cylinder escapement with a balance spring. This system without pendulum balance is more suitable for its primary purpose of travel to facilitate its transport. Our nasturtium is provided with its original key. Napoleon offered this type of clock to each of his officers so that they would be punctual. Robert à Nismes is mentioned in Dictionnaire des Horlogers Français de Tardy, page 557.
Dimensions: Height 29.9 cm - Width 12.9cm at the feet and 11.8cm at the cage - Depth 8.4cm at the feet and 7.4cm at the cage.
A certificate of our watchmaker, certifying that this nasturtium has been the subject of a total verification and restoration. In particular, flattening of the mechanism cleaning and then re-coating, repair of the balance spring and rectification of the striking wheel without forgetting; test and adjustment dated January 21, 2021.
