Relief of God the Father, France 16th century

High relief carved wooden statuette of God the Father. He may have been holding His crucified Son in His hands, thus forming a ‘Throne of Mercy. Limewood, beautiful light brown patina, multiple wear and some losses (hands). Nose probably anciently restored. Multiple wormholes (not active).
Old label issued by an antique dealer on the back dating the sculpture to the 16th century.
Dimensions: 29.7 x 20 x 6 cm.
