Pair of large cabriolet bergères, in molded and carved walnut, decorated with flowers and foliage. Very enveloping, these bergères offer an optimal comfort. If these bergères do not bear a stamp, the vigor of the curves, the specificity of the carving and the use of the most beautiful walnut obviously make one think of the work of Nogaret, the famous carpenter in Lyon.
Among the characteristics of very high quality of these seats it is necessary to focus on the depth of the molding, especially at the level of the arm brackets which are in "coup de fouet"; at the relation between these arm brackets and the lateral crosspieces, the sculpture is characteristic of Nogaret, with a "agrafe" which underlines the "coup de fouet". The balance of the base is also remarkable, with the back legs projecting slightly outwards, and the front legs vigorously worked, the end of the legs perfectly in line with the outer curve. The carving of the stylized flowers is also typical of the Lyon carpenter.
These bergères are in a beautiful state of preservation. They have undergone a magnificent and complete restoration, in carpentry and tapestry; they are covered with a Rubelli fabric.
