French gitl bronze tripod coffee table or gueridon,France, late 19th century
The elegant coffee table or gueridon was made in France, towards the end of the 19th century, in the style of the Louis XVI period.
The double top white marble furniture has a structure in chiselled and gilt bronze: the curved legs converge towards the centre in which is placed a small plane. The legs end with three elegant volutes to support the largest circular plane. The three feet end with a chisel-worked goat’s paw.
Designed to be used as a center table, it is perfect to be placed between sofas and armchairs or next to a corner wall of a living room, a study or an entrance hall, with possibly lodged over a lamp or a vase. Its elegant and light line makes it suitable both in an environment with antique furnishings and modern taste.
