This beautiful and fascinating 17th century canvas is the work of a Bolognese author from the Guercino circle, directly influenced by his creative genius.
The scene is really moving and takes another angle on the famous painting exhibited at the National Gallery in London.
The strong chiaroscuro and the perfect nuances denote excellent pictorial skills and the plastic result is very successful.
The choice to represent the three protagonists in a nocturnal context makes their images much more suggestive and their bodies radiate a supernatural light with a truly remarkable effect.
