Beautiful sculpture in bronze with brown patina representing a young woman drinking water from a spring with a shell, it is signed "mat moreau" and bears the mark of the founder Colin, it rests on a swivel base, circa 1880.
Mathurin MOREAU (1822-1912), a champion of feminine grace, entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1841 in the workshops of Jules Ramey and Auguste Dumont. He won the second prize of Rome in 1842 and was awarded an honorary medal at the Salon in 1897.
