Jacques Thévenet (1891-1989)
Painter, engraver and illustrator, was born in Burgundy, in the Morvan, at the castle of Montquin where he ended his days.
Our painting is a view of his studio in the castle.
For all painters, the studio represents the place where works are born.
The 20th century and modernity highlight a more intimate version of the workshop. This is what Jacques Thévenet offers us
The artist says of his region and his house "Le Morvan, for me, was Montquin. Much more than his vast symphony, his real poetry was the porch, the garden bench , the creaking of the chain of the well, the fields and meadows… Even today, wherever I am, if I hear the rooster crowing, I am in Montquin. "
He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants and at the Tuileries in Paris in Amsterdam, in Tokyo ...
His works can be found in many museums.
