The whole is embraced in the lower part of the backrest and rests on a console support called "à retrait galant" decorated with voluble foliage inserted in the side rail recessed from the front base. The wide belt is curved on all sides, strongly curved on the front and curved and counter-curved on the sides. The whole is decorated with fine sculptures of leafy shells and lambrequins with volutes enriched with foliage and entangled foliage. The whole resting on a base free of struts while lightening by a strong camber, punctuated with scrolls raised acanthus leaves.
This model of armchair shows the evolution of the seat in Comtat Venaissin during the Regency period. From the great century, we keep the high, wide, sloping backs and entirely covered with fabric as well as the ample seats, but to these elements are combined with novelties due to the tendencies initiated in the twilight of the reign of the Sun King. Less solemnity and rigor in favor of more comfort and softness; a philosophy dear to the beginning of the century. It is worth noting the great care given to the connecting elements of impeccable quality. Balance, nervousness, elegance and quality are the most appropriate terms for this beautiful pair of seats. The work so specific of the master fustiers Venaissins gives to this pair of seats all its letters of nobility; we find the exuberance of the south combined with the theatrical taste of a magnificence all Italian.
