Very large oil on canvas
Kees TERLOUW (1890-1948) was a Dutch painter, active in France, where he would end his life.
Our very large canvas is typical of his production of seascapes, very much inspired by impressionist precepts.
Kees Terlouw is best known for his port scenes and cityscapes. He paints canals running through small towns, both French and Dutch, with their barges and brick shelters lining the banks.
His works are in the great museums of Paris, or Amsterdam, Bern, Brussels and London.
The artist is admired for his luminous palette and his impressionistic interpretation of light, shadows and reflections. His bold and material strokes coexist with finer layers giving a beautiful texture to his canvases.
