Our painting is a very beautiful and elegant genre scene where we see a noble family taking the cool in the park of a castle, accompanied by its retinue. This composition has been used several times by the artist with an architectural part decorated with curtains and sculptures sometimes in low relief like here, a group of people and a garden on the right to give depth (1993, sale Neret Minet the return from hunting awarded € 23,000)

A pupil of the sculptor Michiel van der Voort, then of Jan van pel, he became Master of the Guild of Saint Luke in 1706. He extended the Téniers style to the 18th century, his genre scenes with their sometimes anecdotal and amusing tone were very popular during his lifetime and inspired other painters such as Jb Lambrechts, his son Horemans the younger ...
